My artistic practice focuses on exploring mindfulness, presence, and relationship to reality through meditative painting process and nostalgic imagery.
Through mainly acrylic painting, I confront gaps in memory and identity due to after-effects of grief and subsequent trauma of parentification, by capturing specific moments in time, despite dissociative effects on their longevity. These works intend to honor glimmers of hopefulness and joy felt by the inner child, as these types of memories are few and far between.
As I continue to develop my voice, I am inspired by contemporary artists such as Sophie Pearson, and Nick Cave, whose works’ subject matter looks at loss and impact of trauma. Trained in physics, I am also particularly inspired by artists such as Janet Saad-Cook, whose process is beautifully technical, and encourages me to explore new media. I am interested in combining my scientific expertise with my art practice in the future.
